Hello there! This is Chris from Welcome Board Store and today I'm joined by Roman to talk about a gem from our store: The Pyzel Collab.
If you're into surfing, you probably know about Pyzel. Known for shaping some of the best boards in the world, this collaboration was born from one of our wrap-ups in California, courtesy of a good friend who is also part of the Pyzel crew. With John, an enthusiastic snowboarder, we saw an opportunity for a fantastic partnership.
Our vision for the Pyzel Collab was simple: to craft a board that mirrored surfing, specifically for backcountry and deep powder days. However, we didn't want to compromise on maneuverability; we aimed to replicate the surfers' smooth bottom turn and top. We wanted a board that would carve well on hard pack while offering excellent float, emulating that surreal surfing feel in powder.
To achieve this, we introduced the Tapered Mid Bite tech. This design starts wider at the nose, narrows down at the center, and widens out again but not as much towards the tail. This unique structure enhances maneuverability and grip, giving the rider better control while carving.
As for the board specifics, it's a Directional Twin with a high-end sintered base, offering a 7 out of 10 flex. This makes it a medium-stiff board that's perfect for intermediate to advanced riders who love to push their limits. Speaking from personal experience, I found the Pyzel Collab extremely playful and capable of handling big jumps and deep landings.
I had the opportunity to test the Pyzel Collab under various conditions. From spring snow at the end of the season to parks in Japan, this board was a consistent performer, delivering an impressive all-round experience.
The Pyzel Collab's design pays homage to the retro gold days with an aesthetic that feels both vintage and fresh. Its clean, appealing graphics were inspired by the expressive art of old school surfing, giving it a unique visual identity that stands out on the slopes. You'll also appreciate the attention to detail, as seen in the subtle matte finishes on the top deck.
